What are the 5 essential Pilates exercises for beginners?
1. The Hundred – Lie on your back with your legs in a tabletop position, and lift your head and shoulders off the mat. Pump your arms up and down while inhaling for five counts and exhaling for five counts, for a total of 100 pumps.
2. The Roll Up – Lie on your back with your legs extended and arms reaching overhead. Slowly roll up, one vertebrae at a time, until you are sitting up tall. Then, roll back down to the starting position.

4. The Spine Stretch – Sit on the mat with your legs extended in front of you. Reach your arms forward, rounding your spine and stretching towards your toes. Hold for a few seconds, then return to the starting position.
5. The Swan – Lie on your stomach with your hands under your shoulders. Lift your chest and head off the mat while keeping your feet on the ground. Lower back down to the starting position.
